diamonds in the sand

She
doesn’t understand
as her delicate hands
search for diamonds in the sand

There
on a summers day
in the suns golden rays
she plays

She
dresses them up just to steal them away
delicate mangled by her bountiful rage
innocence gobbled up, day-by-day

Hear
the voices which speak
through the muddied oblique
of the wreckage beneath

Where
power were you
in them the “who”
in the questioning few

Control
like deceit
illusive will meet
unavoidable defeat

Things
there are those
we never would have chose
so heinously bestowed
